WASHINGTON—The ousted chairman of a commission planning activities around the nation’s 250th anniversary filed a lawsuit against three fellow commissioners he claims conspired to get him and his executive director replaced by publicly criticizing their management. It “clearly was a cabal to have them removed from their leadership positions,” said George Bochetto, an attorney representing Daniel DiLella, the former U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission chairman, and Frank Giordano, the executive director who is also a plaintiff. The Philadelphia state court lawsuit seeks at least $50,000 in damages for what Mr. Bochetto calls a conspiracy based on “half-truths, mistruths, contortions of circumstances and rank jealousy.”
